A sequence to 2017’s The Fate of the Furious will be the released soon i.e. ninth main instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise and then will come the tenth full-length film. It is the first film which is in the franchise since 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious to not be written or co-written by Chris Morgan and the first film since 2013’s Fast & Furious 6 was directed by Lin.
Fast and Furious 9 Cast
The film Fast and Furious 9 cast includes great celebrities like Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. After the events seen in the movie “The Fate of the Furious (2017)”, Dominic Toretto and his family must face Dominic’s younger brother Jakob, a deadly assassin, who is working with old enemy Cipher, who holds a personal vendetta against Dominic.
Fast and Furious 9 Release Date
Originally release of the film Fast and Furious 9 was scheduled for 2020, but now the film’s release has been postponed and is rescheduled to April 2, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected the whole world.
Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter on November 13, 2014, that there will be at least three more films in the list of Fast and Furious after release of Furious 7 in 2015. Vin Diesel announced initial release dates In February 2016 for the ninth and tenth sequel part of the film Fast and Furious. It was announced that the ninth film initially will be released on April 19, 2019, But after the spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw was announced, the release date for the ninth film was transferred back to April 10, 2020
Diesel and Dwayne Johnson confirmed their returns on April 2017. On October 25, 2017, in a Facebook live video Diesel revealed that Justin Lin, who directed from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) through Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and actress Jordana Brewster, who played the role of Mia Toretto in five of the franchise’s films, would be returning to the movie for the ninth and tenth part. But Johnson stated in an interview on April 4, 2018, that he is unsure for his return for the ninth film of Fast and Furious due to his working on the spin-off, and in January 2019 he confirmed that he would not be appearing in the ninth part of the film.
Daniel Casey was hired in May 2018 to write the screenplay after Morgan left. Morgan left due to his work pending on the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off film. Alos Michelle Rodriguez was confirmed to reprise her role in Fast and Furious 9 too. In February 2019, Universal Pictures announced the delay of the film by six weeks which lead to shifting of the release date from April 2020 to May 2020. The reason for the delay was so that the film would not compete with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s No Time to Die, which was announced with a release date of April 8, 2020.
In June 2019, John Cena was officially cast in the film, after an initial announcement done by Diesel in April. In July 2019, Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, and Vinnie Bennett also joined the cast of this film. And also that same month announcement was made that Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron would repeat their roles. Michael Rooker and MMA Fighter Francis Ngannou were added to the cast further in August. In October 2019, Ozuna and Cardi B also joined the cast of the film.
Principal photography started on June 24, 2019, at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England. Filming took place in Los Angeles, Edinburgh and London and also shooting was done in Thailand for the first time, with Krabi, Ko Pha-ngan, and Phuket used as locations of the movie. Part of the film was also shot in Tbilisi, Georgia. Filming was wrapped on November 11, 2019
F9 was originally scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on May 22, 2020, by Universal Pictures, but on March 12, the film was announced to be shifted back a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and date announced as of now is to April 2, 2021.
